The Warrnambool RSPCA is bursting at the seams. It has outgrown it’s existing site which was built in the 1980’s and is desperate for a new facility.
In this report, Liam Fitzgerald speaks to Manager Tracey Scott about the unprecedented numbers they are seeing. Tracey and her staff are being pushed to their limits, and suffering severe compassion fatigue.
Adoption numbers continue to decline, and some of the most amazing animals that call the shelter home are victims of a terrible stigma, and that is that all animals at the RSPCA have something wrong with them
One of those animals is a gorgeous young boy by the name of Jimmy. On April 6th 2023, Jimmy became the first animal to ever be inside the Warrnambool RSPCA for over 12 months.
Jimmy is a figure head of the type of climate we are in, and that is people overlooking the RSPCA when trying to find a new member of the family.
Luckily Jimmy has been fostered for the last three months by Warrnambool’s Giorgio Palmeri, and if he wasn’t already, he is now more than ready to meet his new family.
We just hope someone who is watching this program is a member of that new family.
