ALMOST SEVEN YEARS OF BRINGING YOU FREE LOCAL NEWS AND INFORMATION. HELP US KEEP DOING IT FOR THE NEXT 70 + YEARS.
On the eve of the the official fundraising week of the Our News, Your Voice Campaign I wanted to share with you the VERY first video news report produced by Fitzmedia.
Our business launched in May 2018, and this story was produced on May 12th 2018.
When Edward White decided he wanted to bring back the Westcoaster to Warrnambool in 2018 , I knew I had to make this story.
I didn't have many paid jobs lined up, but I knew how important local news was, and having produced some video news reports for the radio station, this was a great chance to make one under my own company name.
Our page only had around 250 people on it. But I knew heaps of people would love this story, and sure enough - it attracted over 12,000 views.
This set the wheels in motiont for what you know now, and one of the reasons why more than 35,000 people folllow our page.
Tomorrow, starts a big week of fundraising for us and 51 other news rooms across Australia - and the first $10,000 raised across all of our platforms, that money will be doubled by matched funding by Philanthropic support.
All we ask of you - our loyal audience is a $3 per month donation to help us keep producing stories like this one, and the quality of work we do now for our community.
If 100 people donate $3 that is $300 per month that helps us bring you free local news.
We don't want to charge a fee for the work we do, so we will continue producing free local news and public affairs content regardless, but your donation will make a huge difference to us making it sustainable.
