Mosswood Wildlife is the only full time, dedicated wild life rescue and rehabilitation service between Melbourne and the South Australian Border.
Their facilities based out of founders Tracey and Peters house in Koroit, are the closest thing our region has to an Wildlife Hospital - and if they can't secure ongoing funding from the State Government - There is a very good chance they will have to close their doors.
On tonight's second part of our two part feature story we go outside the doors of Mosswood, to learn about the extra work they take on, advocating for the protection of wildlife living in our Urban areas, as appropriate habitat continues diminish,
We also speak to Jacinta Ermacora MP to find out where the State Government is at when it comes to rolling out a funded operation, either at Mosswood or elsewhere.
Local arborist Warrick Petering discusses the role he and his team at Forest and Garden Tree Services plays in protecting trees, and the decision making process about if a tree needs to be removed.
ifaw 's Josey Sharred joins Liam to chat about its partnership with Mosswood, and the role it plays to lobby the Government for better conditions for Koalas living in Bluegum plantations, off the back of the Cape Bridgewater Court cases.
Also on the program is @Karen Foster - Moyne Shire Councillo speaking about her support of Tracey and Peter, and what the @moyneshirecouncil is doing to help improve the urban living conditions of Koalas in their shire.
This is a very thought provoking way to end our series for 2023. It's uncomfortable at times, but covers a broad range of issues regarding Koalas living in Urban Areas in the South West.
We also advise that viewer discretion is used, as some of the images used are quite confronting.
